Self-Portrait Tuesday #10
The inspiration for this Self-Portrait Tuesday came to me over the weekend. I took pictures every day last week, and spent quite a bit of time thinking about time and how to represent it. As I was lovingly washing my blender it occurred to me that this part of my kitchen contains a very real representative of time. This blender was given to my parents as a wedding gift just over thirty years ago. My parents' marriage only lasted twelve years, and this blender came into my hands when I left home at eighteen to start my own life. I love this blender, the original glass pitcher, the funky mustard/avocado colored base. I make myself a smoothie in it almost every morning, and often I forget her age, her history and how it is tied to my history. That is until one sunny morning when a challenge made me take another look on her representation of time in my life.
ooohhh...i love this. very retro blender and the history tied to it makes it so precious.
glad she is nourishing you with smoothies.
funky, creative photo!

This is my first visit to your blog and I'm amazed by the glimpses of your lifestyle -- the silence broken only by chickadees, the designated outhouse shovel, the chickens' frozen water. I have always had a longing to escape to a remote quiet cabin and be calm, write, paint, bake. I would love to see more photos of your world. Thanks!
