"Summertime and the living is easy."
This is where I spend a lot of my summer evenings, swinging in the hammock in the front yard. I love the hammock. Of course, during the first few months of summer I'm swinging in that hammock armed with bug spray. When we first moved up here I tried only natural ways of scaring off the vicious Alaskan mosquitoes, citronella, lavender...everything (please, no advice, i really have tried it all), at some point if you want to enjoy our long summer days you have to resort to more drastic measures. Despite the clouds of mosquitoes, I am hungry for the days of summer. I can hardly wait for the swims in the tea colored neighborhood lake, iridescent dragonflies buzzing by as I float on my back. Paddling my kayak through town on the river, late night walks in the sun with my dog, and all that green, green as far as the eye can see. I can smell the snow melting my friends, those hammock days cannot be far behind.
*Note on the shoes. Since you all seem to love these red gems here is the info on where to get them. These are made by the fantastic Earth Shoes company and are the Kharma model, good luck.
