the glamour of winter

Snow_eyes

Let's face it, winter is not so glamorous. When it is -20 degrees F and I am swathed in layers of down, wool and polypro I am an unlikely to ever be called glamorous. But here is the secret, I carry it on the inside of those layers, deep in the activity of my imagination.  While I trudge down the trail behind my dog in my trusty mukluks, I could be crossing a bridge over the Seine, or walking down the beach to warm waters. Instead of spruce boughs covered in snow above me, there are 100 meter kapok trees teaming with monkeys and orchid epiphytes. The sound of snow machines in the distance, no way, those are crashing waves just beyond the reef. And as for my clothes,  I am wearing a lovely, strappy black dress with an outrageous scarf and knee high boots and I am about to meet my lover and drink an entire bottle of wine. So maybe it isn't about the glamor on the outside for me, it is about the fabulous tales on the inside.

i think there is something extremely glam about being out in the snow, layers or not. it's snow-queen-magical-glam, and certainly beats the dreary grey rainy weather we're having here at the moment :-) your eyes tell a thousand stories, my love xo

yes indeed. i totally agree with you. true glamor is inside of us. but i gotta tell ya, in this pic the glamor is oozing out of your eyes!

love this post. what a fun photo of you too. xo shari

Great post. Makes me feel all cosy and romantic!
:)

beautiful. I love this picture. and I think the snow has some glam to it, too. Move over, sand and sea--make way for snow covered spruce and eyelashes.

I look at this picture and feel frost, but not in a mean cold way. I would title it hot and frosty!

This shot is fantastic :)

I love love this photo - good job!

So true! Winter doesn't always let us feel very glamourous - I'm deep into frigid temperatures right now. Great post.

I am dazzled by the look in your eyes here--very glam indeed and the dreaming/writing. Excellent SPC post!

ohhh...this was lovely Amy!

i am in love with snow. i don't get to see it very often and just recently was able to play in some in Victoria. i felt beautiful with tiny white snowflakes across my hair.

you my dear, look like a snow princess in this picture.

love love love to you.

I love it. I've never thought of myself as glamorous- but you've given my imagination a little spark- I too can be glamorous in my dreams.

The photo looks mysetrious and glam to me girl-and that inside story line is really really glam.

Your wonderful.
Kisses and love

i haven't been leaving too many comments lately...but i keep coming back to this post to see your face. because this post is beautiful. but also because it makes me feel like i am having just a quick cup of tea with you. and that fills up my spirit. (i am going to send you an email soon...i have been in a bit of a hole but am coming out...and am ready to say thank you to those who reached out to me during this time of hole dwelling. blessings to you snowy angel.)

Oh Beautiful You!!!

I have missed you much. And this picture of you is completely glamoruous. Such prestine beauty with the snow framing your precious face. It reminds me of Russian faerie tales...

so very glamerous ~ you turn the cold into a dream of exotic beauty and your eyes show the beauty of the snow ... lovely

snowy glamour...you look like you are melting cold and warm together

I've been taking a break from Self Portrait Challenge. trying to get back into it and you were my first stop for inspiration.
I imagine you are wearing a flapper style dress made of sparkling icicles, carrying a bag of snowflakes, on the way to a winter ball with penguins and bears.
Remember, your gaze is so warm it can melt a glacier!

That is the MOST glamorous of all the glam ... it is perfect combination of sexy, nature .. with the hint of snow on the eyelash, it is wonderful.

I'll never forget the few times I spent in Alaska- they were magical. I felt like I was transported to a different world! I guess I was actually as I live in FL. It's amazing how many of us that don't have snow and cold weather REALLY want all that stuff!
I love your photo- you eyes are beautiful- and your freckles make me melt!
